It’s that time of year again, though the holiday season doesn’t feel quite right with COVID-19.
In this week's episode, I explore the opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship in mental health.
1 in 4 people, aged between 18 and 24, reported they had considered suicide in the past month. That’s according to a recent CDC survey of over 5000 people in June 2020, highlighting the detrimental impact of COVID-19. They also found that 41% reported an adverse mental health or behavioural health condition related to Covid-19. This is very similar to the UK, where 1 in 5 adults were affected during the pandemic. That’s double from the 1 in 10 before the pandemic.
I'm thrilled to be joining Solveathon, an event co-hosted by Firefly Innovations and MIT Solve later this week, to explore entrepreneurial solutions to mental health.
As you know, I truly love the entrepreneurial mindset, and we need MORE health, environment and education professionals taking this perspective on as part of their careers. That, along with effective story-telling and communication, would be the top 2 skills that I'd recommend if you're looking for impact.
