It’s a brand new year, and I’ve been reflecting a little bit.
It’s no secret that the world is full of information. In the digital age, especially with the dawn of artificial intelligence and ChatGPT, we have access to more data than ever before. This is a fantastic development for entrepreneurs, health professionals, and anyone else who wants to stay informed and ahead of the curve.
It’s perfect if it’s used properly, so long as the data and intelligence that goes in there is unbiased and representative of the truth. Yet it also calls for more wisdom and the ethical application of that information — the power of insights.
So, this week, I decided to test out a new format of our podcast, Tribe Talks. I started sharing some of the insights that I’ve been gaining along the way. Let me know what you think, and hopefully you can apply them too.
No, not the specialty of aerospace medicine (which I considered at one point).
I used to believe that being busy was the same as being productive.
Visionary health entrepreneurs have never been more important than now. As the world continues to face public health challenges such as chronic disease, pandemics, antimicrobial disease, climate change, and inequalities, it’s essential that we use our resources wisely and come up with innovative solutions to tackle these issues.
Creating space is an invaluable tool for health entrepreneurs — it allows us to clear away the noise and focus on our goals, develop strategies with foresight, and come up with new ideas that could make a real difference in the world.
By taking time away from your everyday tasks and activities, you’ll be able to connect more deeply with your purpose, listen to your intuition, explore opportunities for collaboration, and ultimately find better ways of driving change in healthcare.
Creating space is also an essential part of leading a successful, happy, and fulfilling life.
By taking time away from the hustle and bustle, you are able to explore better ideas and insights, allowing you to think proactively instead of reactively. Not only that, but creating space will improve your health, relationships, and overall wellbeing — just like Claude Debussy said, “Music is the space between the notes”.
So, create some space this year and begin unlocking your inner health entrepreneur.
I hear it all the time — ideas are cheap. But what’s more valuable and essential than having an innovative idea is innovating a way to implement it.
At the end of the day, having those creative insights into how you bring your vision to life, and even going beyond what you initially had in mind — that’s where the magic happens!
What I see happening far too often however, is people giving up prematurely or losing sight of their innovative thinking when they’re halfway there.
The next time you’re planning to turn an innovation into reality and create something that could benefit health and wellbeing in some unique way, make sure to also think about how exactly you’re going to do it — because that determines how successful your project will be in providing value!
As health experts and entrepreneurs, we understand the importance of positive change — and that even small adjustments can have a major impact.
Let’s look at it from a different perspective.
Imagine an asteroid is about to hit planet Earth — what do you do?
You could send multiple rockets to try and blow it up entirely, but this would be resource-intensive and hard to achieve. Another option is to find the asteroid further upstream and simply knock it off course by a tiny bit. With just a tiny shift, this rock will be in an entirely new position by the time it reaches us.
This analogy highlights how powerful those small changes can be. As healthcare entrepreneurs, our job is to identify the smallest adjustments we can make in order to influence greater behaviour change — because that’s where true transformation starts!
